Ancient tree which tore itself apart only to regrow 'most complicated' ever found

An ancient tree with multiple trunks that split apart and then repaired itself as it grew has been declared one of the most complicated ever discovered.

Fossils from the 374-million-year-old cladoxlopsid from north-west China reveals an intricate web of trunks that would have appeared like a “network of water pipes”.
