Joining battle against emerald ash borer, Brownell-Talbot students help plant trees in Memorial Park

Clare Schinzel, 10, spent her Saturday morning shoveling dirt, planting trees and spreading mulch in Memorial Park.

The fifth-grader was one of about 10 volunteers who planted 15 saplings underneath ash trees in the park. As a Brownell-Talbot School student, she’s been learning about the emerald ash borer, an invasive beetle, and how it’s damaging ash trees.
