Industry News: Root and Soil Concerns

Q: Can roots absorb water in frozen soil?

Thursday, December 31, 2015
A: In frozen soil, tree roots do not adsorb and there is no cell division. Yet, if the frost line does not include all the roots, there can be absorption, root tip cell division, and fluid transfer. This interplay is species specific and influenced by the site.
