Q: Sugar maple tree is losing its bark. Should we wrap the bark?

Q: We have a sugar maple tree that is losing its bark. Should we wrap the bark? The leaves on part of the tree are turning a light yellow. I don't believe it is an insect problem, but we are concerned for the health of the tree and need advice on care instructions. We had mulch around the tree.

A: I would recommend calling a qualified arborist to inspect the tree. There may be some structural as well as health concerns that can only be properly evaluated with an onsite inspection.
